This Isn't His First Rodeo!

THANK YOU to the person that signed there donor card to make Aaron's surgery possible.
Friday Oct 26th Aaron had surgery on his knee. The last surgery he had was in
August where they took out his very, very damaged meniscus and a very large piece of cartilage that was floating around. The surgery he had Friday the Dr. put in a new/used (donor) meniscus and filled the hole the piece of cartilage came out of. The hole in his knee was the size of a large marble and they had to fit the (donor) piece in the hole like a puzzle. Apparently it was a very big deal and the Dr. even had another orthopedic surgeon in the room with him to observe.

This Will Always Be Home!

Last year I asked my dad to build me a birdhouse not just any birdhouse I wanted one that looked just like the house I grew up in. The house he and my mom still live today.  His response was “Oh shit here we go” (I'm not kidding that's really what he said) My dad doesn’t like to say no to me so I knew when I heard those sweet colorful words come out of his mouth it was going to be AWESOME!  My dad is almost 80 and although he doesn’t move as fast as he use to he's still got it goin' on! And as you can see this house is nothing less than AWESOME!...

So Long Mr. Skateboard!

Last Friday Aaron had another surgery thanks to his love of skateboarding. This time his knee last time his wrist. The part that makes me saddest is how much he loves the sport and how good he is at it. He's been riding a skateboard since he's been able to walk. He would lie on his belly and roll around on it in the back yard and within the blink of an eye he was doing jumps and flips. I remember how excited he would get when he landed a trick and how mad he would get when he couldn't. But this mama wanted to jump up and down with joy when she heard these sweet words come out of his mouth
"Mom I'm giving up skateboarding".

Thursday's with Ralph

Last night Glenn, Aaron and I headed over to Ralph’s armed with three large pizzas and “Money Ball” (our movie of the week). We were meeting up with two other friends and whoever else decided to show up for "Movie Night". As we knocked on the door and it opened we were greeted with the usual big smile from Ralph. We had been planning for Ralph and a group of his closes friends to see the movie at the theater but it never happened and truth be told I’m glad because I know how much last night meant to everyone there. I’m already looking forward to our next movie night….Any suggestion?

His New Wheels

It's been one week since we brought home this 2001 VW Passat. We paid $3,150.00 which Aaron paid half. It has some minor dings and needs new tires but all in all it seems to be a good car for him. Although he knows how to drive a stick it took him a few days and a few gears to get the hang of this one. One things for sure VW's sure have improved since my first one!

Mind Over Matter!

Mind over matter doesn’t always work. At least that’s what I found out this morning when I tried to jump out of bed like a Pop Tart. My plan was to run 6.6 miles for three days straight but that doesn’t always work when you’re me and you’re pushing 49. Yesterday after I was over my high of actually running that far I felt like a zombie I had no energy and no appetite. I went to bed at 9:30pm and woke up this morning at 8:00am that NEVER happens, I’m usually wide awake before 6:00am. When I got out of bed EVERY part of my legs hurt but I kept moving thinking it would go away NOPE no such luck! My body was saying “DON'T DO IT” but my brain was saying “SHIT THE HELL UP” I won’t bore you with the detail of another Fight but this time my body won. I only ran about two and a half miles and walked the rest for a total of 3.6….LESSON LEARNED…Listen to your body or you’ll pay the price!!!!

The Fight!

Today was the day! The day I decided to run 6.6 miles. It’s something that’s never been done by this body! But I knew it wasn’t happening without a fight!
Brain: We got this!
Body: Oh ya we totally got this!
Brain: Piece of cake!
Body: Well that’s easy for you to say all you have to do is sit up there and tell me what to do.
Brain: Oh here we go! You’ve only run three miles and you’re already starting to whine.
Body: Why do we have to run 6.6 why can’t we just do the usual 3.6.
Brain: Because I’m the boss of you. Now shit the hell up and keep running. If you can give birth twice you can do THIS!
Body: You suck and I hate you.
Brain: I hate you more.
Mile 5.5
Brian: Are you ever going to talk to me again.
Body: Shit the hell up I’m almost done and I don’t have the energy to fight with you.
Brain: FINE! I’ll just listen to MEAN and think about you.
Mile 6.6
Body: I still hate you!
Brain: That’s fine but I LOVE YOU because WE did it!!!!!

The Listener and I

Today while on my way to work I called my sister which is what I usually do, well that and singing my heart out to whatever’s playing on my I-pod. Today was the usually phone call which starts out by me saying "Hey what cha doin" after I get the answer I start talking and talking and talking and I usually don’t stop talking until I get to work. In that short car ride to work I have filled her head with 25 minutes of my life. But it’s her own fault because she’s been listening to me all my life and is my biggest cheerleader. I'm just waiting for the day she tells me to shit the hell up and let her talk but I know she never will because that’s how she rolls...Thanks Ter I love you more than you'll ever know!
Time for a new picture!
