You Can Lean on Us!
This picture of my dad and my sister was taken last Friday at Ft Benning in Georgia right before my nephew Kevin graduated from Infantry boot camp. When I look at this picture it reminds me of how much I love my dad and how much I need him to lean on me…

Being a grandma is a gift just ask my sister. She's always been good at a lot of things but be being the grandma of four grandchildren is her gift to them.

My Dad in 1951
This handsome young sailor is my dad when his five children were just a tinkle in his eyes and living on Carlton Rd was 12 years in the future. When I look at this picture I wonder if he was the same smart ass then that I love so much today…..

Halloween 1983
This lovely photo comes to you straight from the Glenn & Lori archives of the 80's. Notice that even though it's Halloween and I could get away with wearing just about anything I still choose to match my belt and earrings...."WHAT A DORK"!!!! As for Glenn all he had to do was roll up his sleeves, throw on sunglasses and slick back his hair…..genius!!!!

Ginger
In 1978 I bought my horse Ginger with babysitting and birthday money I had saved. She was 18 months old, not broke and a little on the wild side. This meant if I ever wanted to ride her I had to break her myself. Seeing as I had never broken a horse in my whole 15 years of life I wasn’t going to start now or in the future. She was bigger than me, scared the crap out of me and I wasn’t accustom to being thrown through the air. It took some time but I finally realized I just wasn’t cut out to be a horse woman although I love horses. Two years later I sold her to someone who could train her to be the great horse I knew she could be….I did however double my money which helped me buy my little green bug and the rest is history!

1968 My Pioneer Woman!
This is my mom in 1968 on Mr. Ed and I bet it was the last time she was ever on a horse. Can you guess where he got his name from? Hint; it was a popular TV show in the 60's.

1978 Happy Birthday?
I’m just guessing at the title of this PAD because I really don’t remember much about it. Reason being I must have blacked out and lost my memory. My mom set this shot up to tell a story and my interpretations of it are Happy Birthday Dad, Mike or Gary or let’s kill my youngest child……proof is in the picture!!!!

I thought I would bring you back to our current day life since I seem to be all over the spectrum lately with my PAD.
Side note: The hay burners belong to our neighbors.

1942 Sisters and Friends
My mom and my Aunt Betty are not only sisters they’re also friends. My Aunt Betty is now 80 and reminds me of my grandma more than ever. My mom will turn 77 soon and if I had known my grandfather my guess is she would be more like him…but it’s just a guess.
I found these pictures the other day when I was once again on the hunt for a PAD (photo a day). My mom is the little curly haired blonde one. I now have proof to show my boys where their curly hair comes from….thanks mom I love having curly hair; I just wish I could say my boys felt the same way.

Four Cuites 1983
rub a dub, dub four cuties in a tub 1983!
This is one of my favorite pictures of my four little nieces. It was taken at my parent’s house after a long summer day of non stop swinging, Big Wheel ridding, sandbox playing, berry picking and all those other fun things they used to do when visiting their grandma and grandpa way back in the day.

My First Favorite Person
I can honestly say that I’m fortunate to have a lot of favorite people in my life but this crazy, braine-act, goofball I call sister (and a few other things) was and still is my very, very first favorite person. This picture was taken July 1980 when she was 27 and could blind you with her white legs and I was 17 rockin a tan......

100 MEMORIES
On January 6th of this year I decide to see if I could keep up with a photo a day blog. Well I surprised myself and today is not only tax day it’s also the 100th photo I have posted on this blog. I really didn’t think I could actually do it without missing at least one day. Thanks to all of you who read this blog I’m now shooting for number 200. I can’t make any promises that I won’t miss a day here or their but I will give it my best shot not to. I hope you all continue to check in and who knows you just might find yourself as my photo of the day.

The Big Fishing Trip 1970
This picture of Mike, me, our neighbors Bill & Ruth, and Mark was taken around 1970 after a big fishing trip to Sprig Lake on Mt Madonna. As you can see by Ruth and my outfits we were far from being fashion divas. We were country girls and didn't have time to worry about crap like that........we had bigger fish to fry!!!

Poison Oak, a Rainey Day and Peanut Butter Bars
So now that the title has you intrigued let me tell you about my Monday.
It was a usually Monday morning except for Aaron’s all over, in pain, itching, oozing, gross, disgusting poison oak. (do I have you in the mood for peanut butter bars yet?) As he walked out of his room like a Penguin with his pant’s just about passed his butt I said “you can stay home from school today if you want”. His response was “no I hate to miss school I’ll be okay”. What the hell I thought to myself if my mom said I didn’t have to go to school I would have jumped back in my bed so fast you’d thought I was on fire. Nope not my kid….HE HATED TO MISS SCHOOL? (head shake, eye roll) Anyway I told him if he needed me to pick him up early I would. Well right at around 10:30 he sent me a text message and asked me to pick him up at lunch time. After we got home he striped down to his underwear, ate lunch and started playing video games. (Now that’s more like it) In the mean time since it was raining and I didn’t have anything else to do other than clean the house or go back to work and who want’s to waste a good rainy day on that? (don’t answer that Jennifer you’re just weird) I started flipping through my cookbooks to find something that I had all the ingredients for when I happened upon these very yummy Peanut Butter bars! I know what you’re thinking, WHAT no chocolate? Peanut butter doesn’t go many places in my house without its side kick chocolate but this recipe was different it called for another one of my all time favorites...... Sweetened Condensed Milk.
Golden Peanut Butter Bars
2 Cups flour
¾ cup light brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
½ cup (1 stick) cold butter
1 (14oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
½ cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, sugar and eggs in a large bowl; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Reserving 2 cups crumb mixture, press remaining mixture on bottom of 13x9-inch banking pan.
Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
Meanwhile, beat Sweetened Condensed Milk, peanut butter (heat the peanut butter and it will mix easier) and vanilla in a large bowl. Spread over prepared crust; top with reserved crumb mixture.
Bake an additional 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
Note: Everyone should keep a few cans of sweetened condensed milk in their earthquake disaster kit. One 14oz can contains 1300 calories, 30 grams of fat and 220 carbs. You can live a long time, be happy and it says milk right their on the can. You know… milk it does a body good…

The Napping House...of sorts!

My niece Charlotte spent the day with us on Friday and she likes to inform me when we hang out that she no longer takes a nap. On this day I thought to myself no nap, no problem I’ll let her figure it out. So at around 3:00 while Glenn and I were watching the Giants game she grabbed her Mimi (her pink monkey she's had since birth) climbed up in our big green chair and fell asleep…...
Someday when she's a lot older she'll wish and maybe even pray for those naps....someday!

Can You Guess What's Up With This?

A day in my life in 1996
Noah: "MOM Aaron peed on the bed and has poopie pants".
Me: "WHAT"? Oh MAN it stinks in here. I'll be right back I need to find my camera.
What can I say? other than if I didn't find my camera and take this picture I would’ve missed out on this great photo for today!....At least that's how I'm looking at it.

Octoberfest 1986

It was a raging party that night on Wagner Ave thanks to Joey and Glenn’s mad rager planning skills. People came from near and far to attend this once in a life time event. At least that’s how the story goes.
Would ya look at that? Dan Lister even showed up!
Walter you look like you've had just a few to many.
Bob what the hell are you wearing? Oh wait it's eighties-wear you're forgiven!
Jennifer, Laurel and Kim gorgeous as always!

Good Friends + Good Beer = Good Times

This is Glenn being his normal self, Sasha (Kim's dog), Kim and Cindy sitting on that eye sore we called a couch. By the look of what Glenn has between his legs (get your mind out of the gutter) we were drinking Lowenbrau that night! This picture was taken in 1986 when Kim and I lived on Orchard St. in Watsonville. We had some fun/loud/drunken times in that duplex and our neighbors loved us for it....
Note: Cindy’s hiding her face because she doesn’t want to be seen on our beautiful couch.

Country Living 1967

This picture of Mark and I was taken in 1967. The view you see behind us is the same view I enjoy every time I visit my parents. We were very lucky children to grow up in the country and have the freedom to roam freely, play baseball, ride horses, build tree forts, swing on rope swings, pick berries, ride bikes and so many other things all in the comfort of our back yard. I remember thinking how lucky my friends that lived in neighborhoods were to have all those kids to play with. We didn't have a lot of kids to play with but that didn't matter to us because the ones we did have were better than all the neighborhoods in Watsonville.....At least I think so....what do you think Kathy, Ruth, John and Bill?

Am I a bad mom because.....

I think this picture is funny? This is Noah and my niece Meghan on the dragon ride at the Boardwalk in 1991. It was in the kiddie section so I thought he would like it……I was wrong!! Meghan had to hold him in because he kept trying climb out. I took this picture after the ride stopped. My punishment for putting him on this ride.........I had to listen to "I no like the dragons", "I no like the dragons", "I no like the dragons" for the rest of the day.
SIDE NOTE: Glenn was in the Directors in 1991 and Meghan was a big fan. The shirt she’s wearing was a Directors shirt her uncle Glenn had given her.

déjà vu?...I Think NOT!

I've had this picture of Glenn sitting on my desk and I kept trying to think of something cool to do with it. So using my mad, mad (ya right!) Photoshop 8 skills this is what I came up with. I asked Aaron to put a pair of shorts, take off his shirt and lean up against the door way. So in reality this picture isn't déjà vu it’s just made to look like it is!
FYI…..The picture of Glenn was taken in 1986 when he was 26 and the picture of Aaron was taken yesterday at his current age of 16.
